£1m Cosy Club opens in Derby

A £1m upscale leisure scheme has opened its doors in Derby.  Cosy Club, a brand operated by Loungers plc has opened at the Royal Hotel Buildings, a property owned by the CWC Group.

The deal was brought to us by Salloway Property Consultants, after Loungers had initially been approached by Marketing Derby in 2015 as a target company for the city.

The cafe/bar opened to the public in May 2016 and is accessed from the Cornmarket before ascending to the first floor.

Chris Keogh from Salloway was responsible for the negotiations on behalf of CWC Group.  He said:

“The lease has required patience to bring together.  Agreeing a 15 year lease to a tenant of Loungers calibre is an excellent result for this unique building that has traditionally been difficult to let.”

Nick Collins, Managing Director of Loungers plc said:

“We are very excited to be opening in the old Royal Hotel building, bringing back to life a beautiful space in a landmark building in the centre of Derby.  It’s been an absolute privilege to develop such a stunning property and we have invested £1m in the refurbishment of the site with its opening creating over 30 new jobs.  The Cosy Club will offer casual drinking, dining and lounging throughout the day and evening.”
