The CWC Group has secured a major deal with national retailers the Co-operative Group at Castlewood Business Park, South Normanton
The facility will be operated by Co-operative Food and it will form part of their new regional network which includes similar types of facilities in Scotland, County Durham, St Helens and Andover, all of which have come on stream in the last three years following the takeover of Somerfield.
James Richards of Clowes Developments (UK) Limited said “This transaction is an endorsement of the quality of Castlewood Business Park. We have attracted The Co-operative Group as a key anchor tenant at an important stage of the park’s development. We are looking forward to working closely with The Co-operative team over the next twelve months, delivering to them the completed facility at the end of 2012.”
Ian Smith, The Co-operative Group’s Head of Logistics for the Northern Region, said: “Castlewood is an excellent location to serve our stores throughout the North Midlands and surrounding area.
“Our new regional distribution centre will not only provide major employment opportunities locally but will also help further boost the local economy for many years to come. This is a major investment in, and commitment to, the local community.
“The Co-operative Group’s food business has grown significantly in recent years and our logistics operation has undergone a major overhaul to develop accordingly. This investment will help us to continue to provide high standards of service to our customers, while also allowing for further growth.”
A planning application is currently being submitted with the development starting on site by the end of this year, subject to permission being granted.
